Low Dose, High Resolution CT

Recent audits show CTs performed at Eastern Health Medical Imaging are low dose and significantly lower than the national (ARPANSA) reference standards.

For example, the radiation dose received during a Chest CT at Eastern Health Medical Imaging is 62% lower, an Abdominal/Pelvic CT 59% lower and a Chest/Abdominal/Pelvic CT 59% lower than the national standard.

This is especially reassuring for younger patients or people who require multiple CT scans. These low doses can be achieved due to our highly experienced staff and the latest technology CT scanners.

1300 Centralised Bookings Number

SPECT CT

FOOT SPECT CT

SPECT CT combines the best of CT and Nuclear medicine into one scan, which means, anatomical and functional imaging are delivered together giving a level of accuracy and sensitivity unsurpased in this region. Not only does it give confience in demonstrating more accurately the localisation of abnormalities but by correcting for tissue depth, the spatial resolution of nuclear medicine is improved.

Available at Box Hill and Maroondah Hospitals

New Dexa

Osteoporotic Spine

Dual Emission X-Ray Absorptiometry (DXA or DEXA) is also referred to as Bone Mineral Densitometry. This scan measures the level of certain minerals in bones to give an indication of the strength of bones and the likelihood of fracture or bone disintegration. Your doctor may suggest you undergo this scan to screen for indicators of osteoporosis (brittle bones).

Low bone mineral density is present when the bone (organ) mineral density falls more than 1.5 standard deviations below the age matched mean or more than 2.5 standard deviations below the young normal mean at the same site and in the same gender.

Bone densitometry services are available on the basis of referral by a medical practitioner. Many clinical indicators are covered under Medicare and do not incur a GAP, some other clinical indications for DEXA do not attract Medicare rebates. You will be advised when booking your appointment.
